We Have Sprouts!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I planted two of these containers with Swiss chard in the middle and forellenschluss lettuce around the outside.  I am hoping it looks good since they sit on either side of the front door. Otherwise I’ll have to move them now heavy with dirt.

Teeny tiny black cherry tomato sprout.

Last but not least, a zucchini plant!  Should we take odds on if Oklahoma squash bugs are more or less persistent than Missouri ones?!  I had a very nice gentleman at a farmers market tell me end of season last year  that his solution was just to have new zucchini plants ready to put in the ground every three weeks to replace the ones he knew the squash bugs were going to kill.

I still haven’t found a place for the hummingbird feeders, but it is still early yet on those.  I haven’t completely ruled out tilling up a small spot for a small bed, but I’m not finding a spot clear of dogs, flying balls and kids not to mention sun requirements.   For those who are curious, the worm bin did not make the move.  No compost bin either.  So in my spare time I am doing things like learning to ride a four wheeler LOL  Life has changed.

Hey! How did my picture get in here…..

Oh wait a minute… that’s just how I felt…..

Enough monkeying around….. it was so cold these poor guys were shivering…… while sleeping…

This sloth was hidden so well the guide had to point him out… and he was sleeping too… there seems to be a theme here….

Yeah… I’m lookin at you…..

Why else do you go to the zoo?!

Hope you all had a good day too!!

Oklahoma Aquarium

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

On one of our trips home last month, we were lucky enough to have friends take us to the Oklahoma Aquarium.  Even luckier because they brought their very fancy camera and took pictures for us while we just enjoyed.  It was a very nice day.  So here are a few of the pictures.  I can’t take credit for any of it.

Sea horses

Puffer Fish

We fed the turtles

Hey Randi! They had longhorn cow fish!!!!!

And I had a happy kid!!  Which is a very good thing!!!

They also have a shark exhibit where you walk through a tunnel of sharks, but apparently we were all so much in awe that we forgot to take pictures!! Whoopsie!!  The Oklahoma Aquarium also has special home school days, but we weren’t that organized this trip.  I highly recommend it for kids of all ages!!

Hope you enjoyed the field trip! I know we did!
